Makokou, Gabon

The city of Makokou, capital of the province of Ogooué-Ivindo is located north-east of Gabon. Built near the confluence

of Liboumba and Ivindo rivers, Makokou was founded in 1912 as a military post at a strategic point of the village. Makokou,

which means "stones", is linked to the presence of rocks originally a series of falls and rapids in bed Ivindo along the city.

Makokou is an administrative city of 15,000 inhabitants, located in the heart of a beautiful forest, which earned him the label of "city forest".

This modest regional capital could experience in the future an important development. The surroundings are rich in iron and gold ore and a license
