Gamba, Gabon

Small town about 10 000 inhabitants, Gamba is 45 minutes flight from Port-Gentil and 1 hour 30 Libreville.

Formerly, Gamba was a simple fishing camp built on the edge of the lagoon. The structure of the city has been

significantly amended following the implementation of Shell in 1963 and the population that it has drained.

Today, the town is divided into six major areas called Welcome, Plain 1 Plain 2, 3 Plain Plain Plain 4 and 5,

the heart of the city matching Plaine 3. Outside the center, two cities of expatriates were built by Shell,

one at Lake Yenzi, close to the airport, the other near Lake Vembo. All services are on offer, from school

to the grocery store, accessible only to residents. The economic activity created by the arrival of Shell has

had a very strong demographic and economic impact on Gamba and its region. Gamba has also delighted to

Sette Cama the capital status of Ndougou department. The city itself is of no particular architectural appeal,

but is however not devoid of charm. Its diverse population, welcoming and warm, leads a leisurely life at

the edge of the lagoon. Its market and its streets "ambiancées" side of "death row" in Plaine 3 evening from

Monday to Saturday, creating a dynamic large village.
